Product Description On his third solo album, Love King, The-Dream ups the ante, focusing his considerable talents on making hits for the long haul, jams from this day forward.
Album Description 2010 release, the third album from the R&B singer, songwriter and producer. Prior to the release of Love King, the-Dream declared the album would be his final solo release, but he later alluded to a possible fourth album. However his solo future plays out, Love King seems like the final chapter of the-Dream's "love" trilogy, following Love/Hate and Love vs Money. The album is heralded by the triumphant title track and the sleek, low-profile "Make Up Bag," featuring T.I.

Baby Whines Too Much August 22, 2010 Eric R. Sturms (Dearborn, MI United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Love King is another juvenile foul mouthed misogynistic offering with the usual fronting, posturing. I feel for this guy that he lost his Mother but like Kanye, I don't feel anyone in the audience should pay for his artistic experimenting while he takes his good old time growing up. For God's sake, there is a recession going on and there is additionally more enticing trash for us to waste our money on! Pass on this and listen to Kem, Donnell, Seal, or anything Motown before this dismal age of mediocrity and philistinism.
Radio Killer Strikes Again August 16, 2010 the solution (Oregon) This album has some really original, unique, futuristic cuts on it, as would be expected from the Radio Killa. The-Dream is a more audacious artist than most in the R&B game right now, because he says what he wants when he wants to, and does not hesitate to employ comedy where appropriate. He is producing epic beats that have an amazingly clean and studio-quality sound that nobody else in the game is messing with nowadays. His lyrics are playful yet smart, his songwriting arrangements are more complex and thoughtful than those of his peers, and his knack for putting different sounds and singing together well is nearly unparalleled in today's R&B. Best of all, The-Dream's beats have a deep, clean bass that add a new element of charm to any car audio or home theatre system. Buy this album if you want some panty dropping romantic tracks mixed with some nice head-bobbers for the lounge or club.
Favorite tracks:
1. "Love King"- Great mix between bubble-gum falsetto, brash but energetic lyrics from The-Dream, and a banging, hardcore energy flow from Young Jeezy;
2. "Make Up Bag"- Another example of great wordplay and fun-poking comedy from The-Dream... If you don't follow the humor of this song, then I advise you to take a closer listen!
3. "Sex Intelligent"- Deep bass-induced, finger-snapping, chopped-and-screwed-vocals-twisted, thugged-out banger;
4. "Panties to the Side"- Very futuristic, beat, a sexy-sounding club slow jam for the club or bedroom. Like all cuts on this album, this song needs to be played at HIGH volumes to appreciate its full range of sound;
5. "Sex Intelligent (Remix)"- The first version just gets funkier, slower, and more complex in its beat layout. A nice rap-flow-like bridge from The-Dream. Creative and once again humorous rhymes that beg hitting the return button. Again, play this at high volumes for maximum enjoyment!
Feelin' The Dream August 11, 2010 M. Ottersboeck (Austria) Big up to The-Dream for staying true. Back in 07 his style was new&fresh and he influenced several R&B artists with his unique production (just like Timbaland has done for years now). Of course "Love King" isn't as innovative as "Love/Hate" was, but one can tell that The-Dream has put a lot of energy and thought into this project. I think he doesn't care about doing major hits anymore, it is all about expressing himself, which happens to be a lot sadder and musing this time around.
Again the songs blend together perfectly and there are only a few uptempo tracks on this album, being "Yamaha", "Panties To The Side" and "Florida University". Besides the midtempo track "Make Up Bag", which features T.I., no featured artists can be found. Standout tracks in my opinion are "F.I.L.A.", "Abyss" and "Priceless" (which can only be found on the special edition).
I think The-Dream has made a great job. It may not be the strongest chapter in his "Love Trilogy", but you can't blame The-Dream for slowing it down and actually being not mainstream. Listen to Taio Cruz or Jason Derulo if you wish, but I will stick to real, heartfelt R&B.
just like others August 11, 2010 Nicole J. Parnell Love King is a great CD but of course I didnt expect anything less from The Dream. I have his first two albums and they are also great... infact they are a little better than this one. Yet, this CD is worth purchasing.
Its not Love Vs. Money August 10, 2010 aaronb220 This offering from The Dream didn't move me the way his previous albums did but it's still worthy of a purchase.
